The Ross Barnett Reservoir is Mississippi’s largest surface water impoundment (33,000 acres) and serves as the primary drinking water supply for the City of Jackson. The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District manages the reservoir, which is surrounded by approximately 50 residential subdivisions with more than 4 thousand homes. The reservoir
provides recreational opportunities with five campgrounds, 16 parks, 22 boat landings, three handicapped-accessible trails, and two multi-purpose trails. |
